Due to changes on SmackJeeves, “Flow Within the Mountains’ Veins” is moving to Comic Fury!
Pages are uploading 5 times a day until they catch up to the planned release date of pages 73-74 on Dec 26.
And for those who followed me on Smackjeeves, and want to be up to date (+ don’t mind the new strict width limit), the last SJ update - page 72 - is available HERE
But anything beyond that will be on Comic Fury. SJ release is oficially discontinued.
That sadly means no new page on Dec 19, instead there will be a batch update on CF on Dec 26. But I encourage you to use this occassion to re-read FWMV on CF anyway, since I decided to export pages at a bigger size As in, they’re larger than they used to be on old SJ, and certainly much bigger than they are on new SJ XD
For those who don't know, Smackjeeves recently had a huge site-wide update that not only completely changed layout and made it's limitations unsuitable for many webcomics, (specifically those that utilised the single-page format instead of tall scroll-down weebtoon type comics), but also removed a ton of functions, customization - and what's left is working badly. The navigation through the site is slowed down by either countless bugs or bad, unintuitive design, and everything takes eternity to load.
They didn’t even fix redirects from old urls till 10 days after the website update - the webcomic sites appeared as not existing, confusing many readers. The new navigation system also makes it difficult and slow to find anyone anymore (if at all in some cases)… The website's barely usable anymore, and many webcomics became unreadable bc of the new very narrow image width... and it’s not even a tip of a tip on an iceberg of issues - let's just say the list of issue's that SJ community composed was 8 pages long the last time I checked XD
On top of all of this it's also the dissapointment over the NHN's (current SJ owner) decisions. What made SJ stand out was precisely because it could offer different formats and options than for example Tapas, and they seemed to appreciate that... only to remove all of it one year after they bought it, and just copy webtoon-oriented hosts. So yeeaaaaaa... not very cool to do, if you ask me XD
Either way, tldr, "Flow(...)"'s changing hosts sorry for the inconvienience and see you there <3
Looking back, 2016 was crazy overall, and its harshness was evident both on a global scale and in personal lives of many people, mine included.
But if I had to say something good about it, at least it was a great year for art.
Personally, the trend that made me the happiest was people turning their pet projects into reality. Friends, artists I follow, finally freeing their years-old stories from their heads, taking first steps and working hard on them with finalization in mind, or by publishing them to be experienced in their intended form.
It was an artistically good year for me too. Even if I wasn’t too active here, I drew a lot, and was able to make a substantial progress on my personal project.
And now…I know I am a bit late to the New Year Thoughts party, but it’s only because I was busy working on my resolutions: which is concentrating on my comic “Flow within the Mountain’s Veins”, and making preparations for it. Storyboarding first chapters, scripting, conceptualizing, finalizing timeline, that sort of work.
It will be a long while, maybe months, before pages start getting published.
Comics are awfully complex, a real test of skills - you constantly discover things you don’t know how to draw - and I assume it’s better to have a buffer - a one or two finished chapters - before anything else. Especially considering life getting in a way.
But while I’m doing that, I want to be more active here too, and post concept art and general randomness that would serve as a proper introduction into this story, it’s characters or lore. Technically I made a list of characters last year (link)… but something more is in order.
I want to give a substantial idea of what FWMV is really about. Who knows, maybe it will spark some interest~ And even if not… Doesn’t matter, I still want to learn how to talk about it: and whoever will join me on this ride, I hope you will have fun
I should post something related to FWMV in a few days. It’s a tag from a long time ago, but I decided to use it as an excuse for some drawing practice/exposition. There’s still few images left for it to be completed.
For now, have this WIP of a fancy dogie <3
Cheers!
Also, huge THANK YOU to . For everything. Your input, critique, support… And especially for teaching me confidence. If not for that, I would be too shy to write a post like that. Thank you. Please keep on being awesome <3
And to the rest of you, creative folk, best wishes for this new year >8D
